Customise your experience

When you start your life on BYTE you will first of all want to select a race and profession, This guides your actions and defines what sort of play you will get out of the server, as each race and profession have a range of skills.

Gain Experience by Killing mobs, PVP with other players, Enchanting (if you have the skill), and completing quests, the higher level you are the more of the skills you unlock.

Use /level to see your level stats, and current race and profession

Use /skills to see your skills and /skill or /bind the skill to an item

The following Races can be selected:

Human

The world is slowly succumbing to the rise of the humans, if not to their armies then to the might of the trade guilds. Other races watch with envy as the Empire rises from the capital Rivenhall, and many secretly plot its downfall.

Skills:

  • Farming- chance of double crop drops
  • Woodcutting – chance of double log drops
  • Fishing – chance of double fish drops
  • Herbalism – chance of double plant drops

Elf

The high born once ruled the world, but as their numbers decrease they have retreated to their cities in the province of Thorin biding their time for when they will rise again, and the elves once again rule the land and sea.

  • Jump – jump several blocks in the air.
  • Forage – find food in biomes
  • Volley – Shoot volley of arrows
  • Empathy – Deal damage and slow target
  • AimedShot – Targeted arrow.
  • Wolf – better wolf taming

Dwarf

The children of the mountains rarely see the need to emerge from their dark tunnels, although the lure of rich trade with the humans has encouraged a few to emerge and join the quest for riches in far lands.

Skills:

  • Excavate – boosts digging speed, allows instant breaking of dirt blocks
  • Mining – chance of double drops while mining
  • Repair – repair items in your inventory for part of their cost

Sentrul

Driven from their homelands in Tyrin province the scaly reptilian Sentrul reside under the sea away from those who would harm them. They are a quiet and brooding race who keep themselves to themselves.

  • Spade Damage (spear): +4

Skills:

  • Gills- breath underwater for a short time
  • Fishing – chance of double drops for fishing
  • Swimming – Sentrul are not affected by swimming stamina

Once you have your race you will need to choose you calling in life, select your profession to influence your career and your skills.

Master one tier and you may move to the next, until you reach tier 3 where you will have a choice… Follow the righteous path or choose the darkness and become evil

The path of Faith

Clerics and above abhor the excess of violence unless in a Holy way. They are heavily armoured to allow treatment and healing of their companions.

Cleric - Tier 1

Cleric

The heavily armored healers help their villages cure plagues and afflictions. Equiping themselves with the heaviest armour they accompany war parties to help and revive their group on expeditions

Warrior Priest

The Warrior priests leave their abbeys to venture out alongside the great armies, They provide absolution to the troops prior to battles, and join them in the thick of the fighting chanting their religious hymns

Deacon

The deacons lead parties of warrior priests into battle, they are a fearsome sight and their absolute faith gives them almost superhuman courage to fight the most evil of foes

Zealot

Faith has a strange effect on some, the zealot descends into the depths of their mind, crazed fanaticism causes the zealot to whip themselves as they march and dive headlong into battle with no thought to their own safety.

The path of Magic

Mages and wizards strive to understand their art more, they are wholly dedicated to their art and shun anything that has a negative impact on their spell casting.

Mage - Tier 1

Mage

The mage is a novice enchanter, new to the road of magic which they choose to travel. Standing out from others in their town by the strange occurances that happen around them, and events they accidentally cause when emotional

Restrictions:

The mage is a mentally strong being with magical powers that need to be freed from earthly shackles, armour stops the flow of magic to the mage – so only leather armour is allowed.

Wizard - Tier 2

Wizard

Wizards are mages who have managed to control their powers, still weaker in body than most, they are able to conjur mightier spells and withstand the ravages of magic better

The mage is a mentally strong being with magical powers that need to be freed from earthly shackles, armour stops the flow of magic to the mage – so only leather armour is allowed.

Warlock

Masters of the magical art the warlocks are reknown as battle mages. Those who tower over the battlefield reigning destruction upon the foe from a distance, and are rightly respected and feared alike

Necromancer

All power corrupts, and magic is no different. Those who are warped by the power running through them stray off the path of light and experiment with the dark arts, slowly losing their souls to the evil black magic.

The path of Shadows

The rogues and assassins are a serious and deadly order, they train tirelessly to hone their skills, concentrating on guile, secrecy and stealth above all others

Rogue - Tier 1

Rogue

The Sneak thief is a novice assassin, lurking in the shadows and flitting over rooftops in search of treasure to steal and  targets to quietly dispatch

  • Arrow damage: 5
  • **Can’t wear gold, iron, or diamond armour – to0 heavy for sneaky assassin**

Assassin - Tier 2

Assassin

The acolyte of the art of killing, the assassin can sneak into the most heavily defended fortress to quietly dispatch the leaders of their foes

Master Assassin

The master of death, even the most heavily guarded target cannot be assured safety, The great houses hire these most dangerous of assassins to remove inconveniences..

Dangerous though assassins are, all but the shadows still retain a little humanity. These dark shadows flit in the shadows dabbling in the dark arts their victims disappear without trace.

The search for enternal riches has taken the alchemists down many paths, the byproducts and results of many hideous experiments give them almost magical abililites.

Alchemist

Lone figures who experiment with the forging of metals and mixtures of liquids in their quest to change iron to gold, they can manipulate metals and mix it with blood to perform strange effects.

The druid  folk are one with nature, manipulating the world around them to not only  create and heal, but to destory and renew using powerful spell casting.

Druid

Natures acolyte, the druid can dispel magic, heal and manipulate earth, iceand roots to harm or trap enemies

Buccaneer:

Sea going adventurers, who roam the oceans looking for excitment and treasure. They are hardy folk and expert sailors

Privateer

Admiral - Tier 3

Admiral

Taken into the full employ of a nations navy, the admirals are brilliant leaders, can pilot mighty vessels of the flagship class and inspire honour in nearby sailors.

Pirate - Tier 3

Pirate

Criminals can only go so far in paid privateering! The pirates have broken the unspoken rules and prey upon any ship at sea, friend or foe they all bow to the cannons of the pirates, and their fast ships.

Once the character has reached the maximum level 50 They can advance to a tier 2 character use /spec to see the next advancement from the base character.

The specialisations will have all the skills of the mastered character plus more.
