Been doing a bit of testing on space, and one thing that has been bugging me is ships crashing. On past space servers I've been on this has never been a thing. I get that it's for immersion purposes but I feel it'll turn off lots of people from using ships, and landing them on the ground when the server launches. If possible I think it'd be best to disable it for smaller, and medium ships, but keep it on for Cruisers, and Capital ships (because it wouldn't make sense to see a Star Destroyer landing on a planet). I could also foresee it causing issues with docking fighters to hyper drive capable ships.
The other thing I wanted to suggest was a "mechanical" block. On an old space server I played on, sponge was used as this block. A ship would change the sponge to a redstone block when the ship was released. It was mainly just for activating landing gear in a more automatic way, but I think having a "mechanical" block could be a nice substitute to having to flip levers to deploy landing gear.
Yes the theory was at present that fighters and small ships are more fragile and if not piloted carefully eg through asteroid fields can be crashed
They are also easier to pilot so landing should be fine
Larger ships have no way of seeing all round when landing so pretty much will always impact somewhere so they are not crashable
We can review if too much of an issue
